Before we can start this, we need to figure out how long a turn will be.

I know we've been using 1 day = 1 turn so far, but I don't think that will work. At the very least, we might need short turns during the First Age, when the only thing to do is modify geography.

Additionally, I would like to say that, unlike the current Nation Game, we are going to use only two threads; one for OOC, and one for playing the game. Map updates will have to be included with every turn that modifies the map; the map you post MUST be up-to-date or it will be ignored. The forum warns you if someone posts before you; heed the warning and adjust your map accordingly. Don't worry about the quality of your drawings; as long as we can tell what we're looking at it should be fine.

I can't start the game up today, but I figured I'd post this thread for discussion/suggestions.

Again, the full rules are available as a PDF here, though a few modifications are made to RAW, which will be posted in full when the game is finally put up.

How about an 8 hour turn? Short enough to keep the first age going at a reasonable pace, while still allowing people to get some sleep without missing something. In addition, missing a turn in this doesn't seem nearly as bad as it was in NG, because your points just carry over to the next turn.

Besides, we can always lengthen the turn time for other ages. This is just for the first.

I have lurked in the /tg/ games, played a few turns, and I would like to say I am excited for this. It seems like it's going to be fun.

If we make 8 hours a turn, we might have to adjust the rules for the "bonus" +1,+2,+3 you get for using (almost)all your points in a turn so that not posting in one turn might not necessarily reset your timer.

As an alternate to the 3 turn/day, perhaps tripling the dice pool would work. Same number of dice, though the result wouldn't be exactly the same.

Yes but, what about time zones? I think most of us are on the East Coast right? Or should we make it twelve hour turns? that way we can all be playing at a generaly high point in internet activity?

We don't REALLY need active discussion. I figure eight hours is enough to discuss, while still speeding things up so we dont get too bogged down in the first stages.

Sometime between tomorrow and the end of next week; to be honest, I'm trying to put this off until school's out (next Tuesday) so I can put more effort into it.

For the 8 hour turn division, we need to get each turn into an overlap of free time that everyone has. So something like 3am-1pm, 1pm-9pm, and 10pm-2am (EST)? Does that sound good?

I thought about time system, but the 12-8 is the part that bugs me. I can accept it though.

Not really, but it's going to suck losing the +1/+2/+3 "have-less-than-five-power-remaining-at-end-of-turn" bonus because of not being able to log on during a turn.

So I think I might start this up tonight.

If there are no objections before 1 AM EST (or maybe 12 AM EST, depending on my mood) I'll start it up today, and we can start taking turns tomorrow at midnight.
